An electrician for the whole of Bristol
Bristol keeps its electricians honest. Hourly and day rates in Bristol: what electricians typically charge
Most electricians in Bristol still price by time. The 2026 cost guides from Checkatrade and MyBuilder put a typical UK electrician at £45 to £60 an hour, with the average around £50, and £335 to £400 for a full day, before VAT and materials. Many firms add a minimum or call-out charge of £80 to £150 that covers travel and the first hour, and evening, weekend or urgent work usually runs at £75 to £125 an hour. Bristol sits close to those national figures, below London and the South East.
How we price instead. We quote a fixed price for the job, so the figure does not depend on how long we take. The only time-based prices we publish are for fault finding, where the work cannot be scoped in advance: £140 + VAT for the first visit, which covers up to around an hour on site with the diagnosis explained before any repair, then £320 + VAT for a half day or £620 + VAT for a full day if the fix needs it, always agreed before we carry on. What changes the price of an electrical job in Bristol
Two quotes for the same job can be hundreds of pounds apart. These are the things that genuinely move the number.
Size of the property
More rooms mean more circuits, more points and more testing, which is why our rewire prices step up from a one-bed flat to a four-bed house and our EICR price rises with the number of bedrooms.
Age and state of the wiring
Rubber or fabric-insulated cable, rewireable fuse boards and circuits added over decades all take longer to test, trace and make safe. Older South Bristol terraces and 1930s semis are where we find most of it.
Access and making good
Lifting floorboards, chasing walls and refitting after the work is a large share of a rewire. Empty rooms and lifted carpets bring the price down; finished plaster and fitted kitchens push it up.

How to compare electrician quotes in Bristol
The cheapest quote is not always the lowest electrician cost once the job is finished. Before you choose, run every quote through the same five questions.

Yes. Every notifiable job we certify, which includes full rewires, consumer unit replacements, new circuits and EV chargers, is registered with NAPIT, so it is covered by the NAPIT Work Quality Guarantee for six years after completion: if notified work is found not to meet the Building Regulations and we were unable to put it right, NAPIT arranges for it to be corrected, up to £25,000 or the contract value. Parts and equipment such as consumer units, chargers and light fittings carry the manufacturer's own guarantee, which is separate from ours. Everything else we do is tested and certificated to BS 7671, and you keep the paperwork.
