Frequently asked questions
How often do I need an EICR?
Rented homes need one at least every five years (or at change of tenancy). For owner-occupied homes, every ten years is the usual recommendation — sooner if the installation is old or you've noticed problems.
How much does an EICR cost?
Domestic EICRs are fixed-price and published: £180 + VAT for a studio, 1 or 2-bed property and £250 + VAT for a typical 3-bed house. The full price list, with VAT-inclusive totals, is on our EICR page.
What happens if my EICR is unsatisfactory?
The report lists exactly what needs fixing and how urgently. We'll give you a fixed detailed quote for the remedial work — and for rentals, carry it out within the required timescale.
How long does an EICR take?
Usually a few hours, depending on the size of the property and the number of circuits. We confirm timings when we book you in.
Will the power be off during testing?
Only briefly, circuit by circuit, while each one is tested. We'll work around anything that must stay on — just tell us in advance.
