What a new consumer unit gives you
Your consumer unit (fuse board) is the heart of your home's electrics. If yours is old, has no RCD protection or uses rewirable fuses, a modern unit is one of the biggest safety upgrades your home can get.
- ✓RCD and RCBO protection that cuts power in milliseconds if something goes wrong
- ✓Surge protection for your appliances and electronics
- ✓Clearly labelled circuits so you always know what's what
- ✓Full testing of every circuit before we hand it over
- ✓An electrical installation certificate for your records, insurance and future sale
Consumer unit prices, fixed and published
Every price includes removing the old board, a metal consumer unit with individual RCBO protection and surge protection (SPD), transferring your circuits, full testing, your EIC certificate and building-control notification.
Extras agreed first if your installation needs them: new meter tails or Henley block £80 to £180 + VAT, earth electrode £220 + VAT, fault finding on circuits that fail testing £140 + VAT. Wondering why prices vary so much between quotes? Our new fuse box cost guide explains.
How we price — no surprises
Every home is different, so we look before we quote.
We check your existing board, wiring and earthing before quoting anything.
The price we agree is the price you pay.
If we find anything unexpected, we stop, explain it and agree any change with you before continuing.
Estimates are always free — and there's never any obligation.
