Sound familiar?

The faults we're called out to most — all worth investigating, not just resetting.

Tripping RCD or breakers

Especially after wet weather — often moisture in outdoor lights, sockets or supplies. The RCD is doing its job; we find what's setting it off.

Dead sockets or circuits

One room out, or a whole circuit gone quiet — usually a loose connection or a damaged cable we can trace and repair.

Flickering or dimming lights

More than an annoyance — it can point to loose terminations or an overloaded circuit that needs attention.

Burning smells or buzzing

Switch off at the board and call us straight away — these are the faults that shouldn't wait.

Sudden power loss

Whole-house outages that aren't the network's fault — we work out where the supply is failing and put it right.

Appliances tripping the board

A faulty appliance can take the whole circuit down with it. We isolate whether it's the appliance, the socket or the wiring.

We test circuit by circuit with proper diagnostic equipment until the cause is isolated — no guesswork.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my RCD trip when it rains?

Rain finds its way into outdoor fittings — garden lights, external sockets, outbuilding supplies — and the RCD cuts the power, exactly as designed. We track down which fitting is letting water in and fix it properly.

Is a breaker that keeps tripping dangerous?

The tripping itself is protection working. But repeated tripping means something is wrong — don't just keep resetting it. It's worth finding the cause before it becomes a bigger problem.

What does a diagnostic visit cost?

Initial attendance is £140 + VAT (£168 inc VAT) and covers up to around an hour on site. If the fix needs more time, it is £320 + VAT for a half day or £620 + VAT for a full day, quoted in writing before we do the work. Materials are extra and always itemised.

Can you come out urgently?
